Description
Morgreth Tuskbreaker won his crown. He evolved from a regular orc that was whispered as God-touched, into a crimson skinned legendary HIGH ORC. Every precedent the scholars could find said the transformation was unique and finished. It wasnt. His power keeps climbing. He keeps changing. When eight of his own citizens erupt overnight into fully-formed High Orcs in his capital’s square, Morgreth is forced to confront a truth no one can yet explain: He is not an anomaly. He may be the true Orc King, The Grey King, an even rarer, recurring phenomenon far older and larger than the legendary High Orc. Buried in the archives generations ago, the Grey Line, his father Orgrek the undefeatable, now a scholar, searches to uncover what that means, why the record was hidden, and it may cost him everything he thinks he understands about the throne and the hearts of the Orc people he won.
Meanwhile, in the mountains to the west, Gorvak, whom Morgreth once defeated, has not simply survived his humiliation, he has been remade by it, and by a patient, unseen hand willing to promise him considerably more than revenge. As alliances start to fracture, a general’s grief is turned into a weapon. Armies begin to move on borders that have held for generations. Morgreth will discover that this time it is not a simple battle of attrition like fighting Skreel the Devourer, the self proclaimed Goblin King. The manipulation, the lies, the stresses, new revelations, all combine to take him to an even higher level of transformation that no one thought was possible, and its taking everyone around him with him. Will he become the legendary Orc King?
